Information and National Guidance Minister, Frank Tumwebaze has admitted that Uganda’s image is not looking good at the moment but dismissed opinion that Bobi Wine is the solution.

Tumwebaze who was appearing on an early morning local TV programme said that bad publicity not only hurts the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party but the whole country at large.

“Uganda looks bad right now and whoever is proud of the situation is anti-Ugandan. Indisciplined politicians are making Uganda look bad. Some people have a tendency, they believe if they stir up controversy they’ll be seen as a martyr,” Tumwebaze said.

The Kibaale East MP lashed out at fellow Parliamentarian, Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine and the People Power movement for being indisciplined and having no alternative agendas for Uganda’s development.

“What alternative policy has Bobi Wine articulated? How come some opposition members don’t go into mad and mortar with the security agencies? Mature politics is what we must advocate for as a country,” Tumwebaze added.

Tumwebaze heaped praise on former FDC president, Gen. Mugisha Muntu saying that although he does not agree with his politics, he has never seen him [Muntu] stir up chaos.

NRM not worried about Bobi Wine

Asked whether the government is worried about Bobi Wine who returns to the country tomorrow from the US where he has been receiving treatment, Tumwebaze said the opposition is more worried because the singing politician is more in their space than in the NRM’s.

“The people worried about Bobi Wine is the opposition because he is in their space, not NRM’s so there’s no cause for worry,” the minister said.
