In response to resolutions made by EU Parliament over the arrest, detention and charges slapped at legislators; Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi, Paul Mwiru, Gerald Karuhanga, Francis Zaake and 33 others, government spokesperson Ofwono Opondo has spoken out on a number of issues.

In his address which is taking place right now at Uganda Media Centre, Ofwono took a swipe at social media ‘activists’ ‘lambasting’ the government.

“Those lambasting the government on social media should know that the silent majority of Ugandans are not on social media. That silent majority support the government and we (the government) shall be with them”, he stated.

He stated that the opposition breeds violence against the government to win elections.

“Where the opposition feels they have no support, they aggressively stoke violence, intimidate voters so as not turn to up to vote and they cause violence so it can be blamed on authorities”.
