The much anticipated clash between the 2017 National Basketball League finalist City Oilers and KIU Titans lived to expectations.
In presence of a fully packed MTN Indoor Arena, the semi final playoff game one of the best of five series between Oilers and KIU tipped off with the university side hitting two three pointers in the opening minute.
Defending champions Oilers immediately responded with one three pointer through Jimmy Enabu. KIU did not lose the momentum as they continued to place it hard for the money bags. By the end of the first quarter, KIU was in the driving seat as they led with 24-13.
Oilers looked revamped in the opening minute of the second quarter but KIU did not give them space to go over them hence managing to maintain their lead at the end of the quarter on 39-29. The last two quarters drove the fans crazy because of their intensity and skills by the players on court.
However, KIU continued to enjoy the advantage by tactically manhandling the Oilers who seemed to be bowing to the pressure as it clocked down. The final quarter saw the university boys showcase their skillful bounces that in return gave them a huge upper hand at fulltime. They won game one 83-61, next game is slated for tomorrow at the MTN Indoor Arena.
