Since the shooting of Bobi Wine’s driver in Arua last week allegedly by security forces, more protestors have fallen at the hands of the police and the army.
Over the weekend, a taxi carrying football fans was shot at by police officers who were handling protests in Mityana killing one person and injuring five others.
Although the police said it had arrested the two officers responsible for the shooting, former Presidential Press Secretary Tamale Mirundi thinks otherwise.
Mirundi has condemned the arrest of the officers that manage riots saying they are “heroes” who need to instead be promoted rather than punished.
“If a riot policeman shoots a rioter, I promote him. Why did you bring him in the first place? And again the army is trained to handle foreign security cases but in Uganda we see them handling protests, what do you expect?” he explained.
