Over 60,000 villages across the country elected their leaders in the LC 1 polls after 17 years! Ruling party, NRM is impressed with their performance at the grass root level. While addressing the media today morning, NRM’s Secretary General Hon. Justine Lumumba said that despite only half of the LC1 results have been officially declared, indicators show NRM is above the rest.
Lumumba further stated that their win in the polls shows that the ruling party is loved; “ I want Ugandans and opposition to know that NRM is doing a lot in this country in terms of service delivery despite some corruption.” She said before adding that; “This is the manifestation that NRM is doing something, if these people were unhappy with us, they wouldn’t have given us all this support at the lowest governance level.”
She questioned those blaming their defeat on the new system of voting saying; “We’ve been using secret ballot in all these elections and people have been complaining about ballot stuffing, now that we said lineup people are saying it isn’t good. So, what is good then?”
