While meeting legislators yesterday, President Museveni reportedly expressed dissatisfaction over Gen. Kale Kayihura’s work as IGP. The president told Members of Parliament that jailed former Inspector General of Police Gen Kale Kayihura side-stepped formal police structures and chose to work with wananchi (civilians), effectively crippling professionalism of the Force.
The MPs, who attended the closed-door meeting, said Mr Museveni also blamed Gen Kayihura for leaping to the defence of his juniors even when they had broken the law.
Kayihura was picked from his country home in Kasagama in Lyantonde district about two weeks ago and locked him up at Makindye military barracks.
The legislators said Mr Museveni spoke about Gen Kayihura in a guarded manner and did not mention the charges the former police boss is likely to face.
