Following an action-packed opening round of the Guinness National Sevens Series a fortnight ago at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds that saw Black Pirates crack Betway Kob’s three year winning streak in a 21-7 win, rugby fans anticipate another mouthwatering showdown as the second leg heads to Dam Waters, Jinja.
Losing quarter finalists in round one and now hosts this Saturday, the Jinja Hippos hope to utilise their massive following in the rugby fraternity to depose some big guns. However, Pirates’ coach Bobby Musinguzi hopes his side will replicate its dominance in the first round stating; “The first leg ended up the way we had hoped for and we want to chase the same result in Jinja this weekend, we are taking each leg as it comes and then see what we can total in the end.”
First round runners up Kobs promised to bounce back a better side for the Jinja show while Hima Cement Heathens whose run was ended by Pirates in the Kyadondo semis are targeting to go a step further if they are to mount a title challenge early on. The third round of the Seven series is slated for next week (June 30) as Toyota Buffaloes will be the hosts at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds.
