Hundreds of Kampala’s fun lovers lit up the streets at the first ever Tusker Lite Kampala Night Run on Saturday June 9.
The runners who would later turn into partiers literally had the Kololo suburb where the run took place glowing thanks to the fancy ‘glow in the dark’ accessories every participant had obtained at Torino Bar and Restaurant; the event’s start and finish point.
The run gave participants the unique opportunity to break a sweat while simultaneously having fun, and with more than 100 police officers deployed to ensure security at every point of the route, the hordes of fun-loving people who showed up had nothing to get in the way of a merry-filled evening.
“We set out to push the boundaries and give Ugandans an experience they had never had before, and that is what the Tusker Lite Kampala Night Run has achieved today,” said Estella Muzito, Head of Beer at Uganda Breweries Limited. “This run was about fun, adventure amazing musical performances, because we believe the Tusker Lite consumer is hip
and adventurous,” she added.
“We are already looking forward to the next edition of the Tusker Lite Kampala Night Run.”
After a lively race, the night proceeded to a colourful glow-in- the-dark after party where the finish point of the run lived up to the day’s _Lite the Nite_ theme as the evening’s runners-turned-partygoers showed off their dancing skills thanks to a steady flow of entertainment courtesy of spirited performances from Fik Fameica, Cindy, Beenie Gunter and Toniks.
The DJ’s of the night made it worth their while having dancers on their feet with playing rhythms and beats.
The revellers lost themselves in music, fun games and dance all the way to midnight as some of the city’s best DJs Simples, Ciza, Xzyl and DJ Mary Jo spun the decks while the Tusker Lite drinks kept flowing.
