A man, only known as Mohammad through his lawyers Ortus Muhangi Advocates has written a letter of intent to sue Nile Breweries over the cancellation of a ticket he won to watch a match at the World Cup in the‘Tulumbe World Cup’ promotion.
Mohammad was notified by a one Francis from Nile Breweries on May 18, that he had won a ticket courtesy of the ongoing ‘Tulumbe World Cup’ promotion and was also published in the New Vision.
However, on May 21, he was told that he was ineligible to win the ticket because he is not a Ugandan citizen. According to the letter, the brewery company based their opinion on the Terms and Conditions.
It is on this note that he involved his lawyers who say that the T&C invoked were neither annexed to the advert of the promotion nor made public for all interested participants to acquaint themselves with the same.
They, therefore, believe that Nile Breweries belatedly attempted to change the rules of the game through a Facebook post.
With this, Mohammad instructed his lawyers to demand that Nile Breweries reinstates his position as a winner with all associated privileges together with a legal fee of Shs5m.
Failure to meet the demand within 14 days, Ortus advocates will have to immediately institute civil proceedings against Nile Breweries.
