President Museveni has pledged Shs500m to Wekembe Group, a Sacco founded by Archbishop Cyprian Lwanga in 1995 to help Christians improve household incomes. President Museveni made the pledge yesterday at Hotel Africana in Kampala, where he was a guest of honour at a conference organized by the Wekembe Group.
While addressing guests, President Museveni blamed the media for spreading falsehoods.
“I want really to warn some of these newspapers that we are here to build our country. As Christians, we work for peace not for discord. They should not make it a business to spread discord,” he said.
The Shs500m will be invested in the Sacco in the next financial year. The initiative has so far supported 12,800 beneficiaries.
