‘Prodigal son’ Fr Anthony Musaala has been re-admitted into the Catholic Church after five  years in the ‘wilderness’. The charismatic priest Musaala re-admitted after a liturgical celebration at Rubaga Cathedral whose main celebrant was the archbishop for Kampala, Cyprian Kizito Lwanga.

During the celebration attended by a legion of priests, Musaala who wore no mass vestments save for a roman collar and a cassock, was given an opportunity to make a public confession prerequisite to readmission.

Musaala took to the lectern and moved that the Roman Catholic Church is forgiving, he expressed his willingness to return to service.

Also re-admitted to the church was Fr Deogratias Sonko who publicly quit the church in July 2016 together with Fr Jacinto Kibuuka and joined the Evangelical Orthodox Church.

However, on May 2017, Fr Sonko wrote back to the Catholic Church saying he had had a change in heart and wanted to be readmitted.

Fr Musaala  on the other hand was suspended on March 19, 2013 for advocating for marriage among Catholic priests.
