Get Out, a movie in which Ugandan British-born actor Daniel Kaluuya starred in a leading role has scooped an Oscar Award for best Original Screenplay. Get Out beat The Big Sick, Lady Bird, The Shape of Water, and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. The movie was written and directed by American national Jordan Peele who took the accolade.
Kaluuya missed out on a personal award when Gary Oldman (The Darkest Hour) emerged winner of the Best Actor category where he was nominated for his Get Out role. Other nominees in the category were Denzel Washington, Daniel Day-Lewis, and Timothee Chalamet.
Kaluuya who also starred in new marvel movie Black Panther, which has broken box office records in recent days, picked up the BAFTA Rising Star award last months.
The Oscars is the most prestigious award ceremony in film.
