With rising crime rates, Democratic Party president Norbert Mao has sarcastically asked government to appoint a minister of excuses to help them cover their weakness. This follows the unresolved death of various Ugandans at hands of criminals.
“Whoever did this (killing Susan Magara) is not only targeting the government, he is targeting Ugandans. He is intended to create fear. Susan Magara is a symptom. President Museveni has to appoint a minister of excuses,” Mao stated on NBS TV Frontline show.
However, Mao stated that the country has the ability to fight crime only if they separate politics from reality.
“ I do believe that Uganda has the capacity but it has to be focused. It’s now up to us to accept that we are on our own as Ugandans. Let’s leave politics aside and realize that at the end of the day it doesn’t matter who is abducted and killed. All lives matter”, Mao stated.
