Singer Sheebah Karungi has become the subject deeply-rooted family controversy. According to reports, Ahamada Kimali Musoke, the biological father of the singer, died on Sunday and was laid to rest on Monday but had instructed in his will that he did not wish her to bury him.
Ahamada who was a staunch Muslim reportedly disowned Sheebah. According to media reports, among the 30 children Musoke left behind, it was only Sheebah who was in his bad books.
Sheeba’s elder brother Swaibu Senfuka confirmed to the media that the singer is his true blood sister.
“Sheebah is our blood sister and her true name is Samari Njagala Karungi and before our father died he told me how he had cursed the singer. He had also disowned her as his daughter,” he said.
Furthermore, Swaibu added that Sheebah left her father’s home when she was only nine years and started living with her mother and ever since then, they have never met again.
Sheebah’s paternal aunties revealed to the media that the dress code of the singer landed her in trouble. They said in Islam faith it is a taboo to dress skimpily and be in and out of bars. A one Rose Mbowa said that they couldn’t allow such kind of character in their family. They had to distance themselves from her.
Sheebah’s siblings want her to drop the family name
Some of Sheebah’s siblings are furious and want the singer to drop their family name that was given to her by their fallen father.
“Let her come home officially and declare that the name our father gave her is dropped. We don’t want also to associate with her. We also don’t need anything from. Let her keep her fame and money. She has ashamed our family enough. Some time back, she came home to bury a relative and she only stayed in her car”, one of the sisters spoke to the media.
Swaibu added that he tried personally to reconcile Sheebah and their father but the singer swore never to forgive her father for refusing to look after her and failing to pay her school fees.
