Parliament to honour Quiin Abenakyo in special sitting

Quiin Abenakyo getting a standing ovation at Miss World finals in Sanya, China

The Parliament of Uganda is set to honour Miss Uganda Quiin Abenakyo for her historic performance at the Miss World Finals in Sanya, China last week.

Abenakyo made Uganda proud with the first ever top three finish earning her the Continental Miss World Crown for Africa – the first for a Ugandan beauty queen.

According to the Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga, Abenakyo deserves to be honoured by the House for her heroics in representing the country and for achieving such remarkable success at just 22-years.

“We need to be in the habit of celebrating our young people that do great things for the country. She has raised our flag, is running a great project to stop teenage pregnancies, the House will definitely honour her,” Kadaga said.

Abenakyo will not be the first young Ugandan to have been recognised in a special parliamentary sitting. Uganda Cranes skipper, Denis Onyango was also honoured on January 10, after being the CAF best local player and goalkeeper respectively for 2016.
