Hon Kyagulanyi overshadows Bobi Wine at Kyarenga concert

Although Bobi Wine was warned prior to the Kyarenga concert not to go the political way and to separate his political self (Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi) from the musician, the political man in Bobi Wine showed up more than the musician.

Pseudo names such as ‘Bosco’ dominated the singer’s lyrics and the fans went wild when he sang the gospel song ‘Engule’ giving fans hope that when People Power takes the mantle in Uganda, Ugandans will wear the golden crown in celebration. 

Arrest Bakaleke on sight – Police officers ordered

All police stations countrywide have received arrest warrants to apprehend former Kampala South Regional Police Commander Siraje Bakaleke who is wanted for trial on charges of abuse of office and kidnap.

“We have sent the warrants of arrest to all police stations and the search is still on,” the Principal State Attorney in the Directorate of Public Prosecutions, Alice Komuhangi, told the Anti-Corruption Court on Monday.

However, she added that Bakaleke is still on the run and has not been traced.

0.5% Mobile Money tax takes effect after Museveni signs amendment 

President Museveni has approved the controversial 0.5 per cent tax on mobile money withdrawals. This comes almost after a month when parliament passed the amendment of the tax from 1% to 0.5%.

This came with huge resistance from Opposition MPs and a section of NRM legislators, who were defeated by the government that insisted revenues from the tax were essential to finance the budget.

164 MPs voted in support of the tax, while 124 voted against the controversial tax.

The army court for the second time denied former Boda Boda 2010 leader Abdallah Kitatta bail and further remanded him to Makindye Military barracks on grounds that he is an influential person in society and therefore, he’s likely to interfere with witnesses if set free.

Army begins night patrols in the city ahead of the festive season

The army has kicked off night patrols in and around Kampala City. Together with the Police, they have made several checkpoints where every vehicle is subjected to searches.

They also have foots soldiers on the streets that arrest suspected criminals and idlers. The army spokesperson, Brig Richard Karemire, said the military deployments are in fulfilment of President Museveni’s strategic measures to fight crime in urban areas.
