I remember my torturers’ faces, names – MP Zaake plans to sue government, Kiruddu hospital

After the pictures of the tortured Mityana Municipality MP, Francis Zaake leaked on social media, some people thought he wouldn’t make it.

He had been tortured by soldiers he says belong to the UPDF elite outfit – the Special Forces Command who arrested him alongside 32 others – including Kyadondo East MP – Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine) in Arua on August 13 for allegedly hitting the presidential convoy.

Zaake who returned last week from India where he was receiving specialised treatment told the media at his home in Wakiso today that he remembers his tormentors both by face and uniform names tags and is to drag them to the courts of law to answer charges of torture, inhuman treatment.

“I can remember their faces very well. They had name tags on their army uniforms. They kicked me while asking the whereabouts of my colleagues. They cut and pierced my hands before tying them,” Zaake narrated.

Zaake has also instructed his legal team to sue Kiruddu Hospital for treating against his will when the military forced him to the facility after intercepting him at the Entebbe Airport on his way to India.

He has challenged the government to present evidence that he escaped from hospital – a narrative they presented after he magically appeared at Lubaga Hospital in the wee hours of the morning following his torture.
