For years, Ginuwine, real name Elgin Baylor Lumpkin, captivated Ugandan R&B and soul music lovers as his songs like Same Ol’ G and Pony dominated local airwaves.

Now, his Ugandan fans have an opportunity to experience the R&B star up close and live in concert. Saturday, December 1, 2018, cannot come soon enough. That is the day Ginuwine takes to the stage at Speke Resort Munyonyo to give Ugandans the perfect start to the festive season.

For lovers of soul/R&B music, nothing could possibly better an evening with an artiste who has sold millions of contemporary R&B albums and who became a household name after transforming into one of R&B’s top artistes during the late 1990s and early 2000s.

The American singer, songwriter, dancer and actor will be performing in Uganda for the first time after the Johnnie Walker Jazz and Soul Safari was this year split into two separate events, with the jazz show preceding the Johnnie Walker Soul Safari. Truth to tell, there couldn`t be a grander introduction for the soul event.

“Ginuwine stands out as one of the most iconic artistes of our times, an example of progress and success. He gave R&B music a sleeker, sexier feel. As one of the most iconic global brands, Johnnie Walker is excited to be at the centre of giving Ugandans this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to watch him live in concert,” said Roger Agamba, IPS and Reserve Manager at Uganda Breweries Limited.

Stanbic Bank Marketing Manager Sonia Karamagi Kasagga said Stanbic is proud to support the Johnnie Walker Soul – R&B Safari which they have partnered with for some time now.

“As the official financial partner of the Johnnie Walker Soul-R&B Safari, we believe convenience is key in fostering lifestyle. Stanbic will be will be promoting Credit and Debit Card usage by subsidising ticket costs for those who will purchase using Visa cards. All one has to do is use ANY Visa cards to purchase tickets and get amazing discounts,” she said.

Discounted tickets can be purchased with any Visa or Mastercard card at selected outlets including; Shell Select Bugolobi, Shell Select Lugogo Bypass, Shell Select Kira Road Bukoto, House of Walker Sheraton Hotel, Definition Acacia Mall and Game Lugogo.

“Ginuwine has pedigree and consistency, which is the criteria we use to choose artists”, said Soul Safari show organiser and co-founder TShaka Mayanja. “He’s coming with a full band and dancers. He’s a must-watch.”

Early bird tickets are on sale until November 4 and cost Shs80,000 if bought using ANY Visa or MasterCard and Shs100,000 for cash transactions.

A VIP table goes for Shs3,500,000. After the early bird sale expires, tickets will go for Shs120,000 on Visa or MasterCard and Shs150,000 for cash purchases.

Tickets can also be accessed online via quicket.co.ug.

The Johnnie Walker Jazz and Soul Safari, before it was split into two, was at the forefront of supporting various charitable causes, and this year the Jazz Safari, working with friends and partners in England set up a new ICT centre, complete with specialised equipment valued at £50,000 (approximately Shs250 million) for disabled children earlier in the year.

The next step, according to Jazz Safari founder Tshaka Mayanja is connecting the centre to other children all over the world.

”We are now getting them connected to the internet so that the children can exchange ideas with kids around the world in similar conditions,” he said.
