Mpigi Town Council names road after the late Muhammad Kirumira

Mpigi Town Council Councillors have overwhelmingly voted to name a road after slain policeman Muhammad Kirumira in appreciation for his contribution to the country.

The motion to name the 2.5-kilometre Mpambire- Mpanga road was moved by the mayor, Richard Ssenoga.

Kirumira was gunned down on September 8 in Bulenga together with a female passenger – Resty Nalinya – as he was travelling with on his way back home from a local function.

The council has also resolved to buy a plot of land on the Kampala-Masaka highway and erect a monument in honour of the former Buyende District Police Commander.

A five-member committee will be headed by Ben Ssozi, one of the councillors, will oversee the project to completion.
