We are registering all motorcycles in the country starting today — Police

After the gruesome murder of ASP Muhammad Kirumira, many predicted that government would come up with an immediate directive as it has been the case  whenever a popular citizen is assassinated! Well, here we go again!

Starting today Monday, September 10, police will start registering motorcycles in the country.

While speaking to journalists yesterday at the police headquarters in Naguru, Director of Political Commissar, Asan Kasingye said; “Starting 10th September 2018, police will start registering all motorcycles. We shall need to look at the motorcycle log book, take ownership into consideration, and make an insurance sticker. The process will go on for a week.”

Kasingye further stated that the public should not take the process for granted as many bikes in the country are unlawfully used.

“Some have false reg. numbers, others not registered at all, others brought in through ungazetted/unlawful channels, others changed ownership but didn’t officially transfer with URA. Do not think security is doing this without reason. Let’s do our work,” he stated.

In the recent murders of popular public figures, motorcycles have been used as the means of transporting the gunmen who execute their target in the most gruesome way. AAIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi, Ibrahim Abiriga were assassinated in a similar way.
