One shot dead in #FreeBobiWine protests in Gomba – the singer’s birthplace

The security forces have yet again shot dead a protester in Gomba district who was demanding the release of Kyadondo East MP, Bobi Wine.

Vincent Sserunga, a boda-boda cyclist in Bukalagi town was protesting the arrest of Robert Kyagulanyi after the General Court Martial acquitted him of gun possession charges yesterday in Gulu.

According to an eyewitness, angry youths in Gomba, Bobi Wine’s birthplace protested thereby blocking all major roads and attacked police officers at the area station.

“They attacked our police officers when they were protesting the re-arrest of Hon Kyagulanyi Robert. They closed roads and that man [Sserunga] attacked our police officer with a panga…They started struggling for the gun and that is when the bullet shot him,” Joseph Musana, the Katonga regional police spokesperson said.

Sserunga who died on his way to Gomba hospital is the third victim of the security forces since Bobi Wine was arrested.
