She Cranes chasing third World Cup appearance

On Tuesday, She Cranes had a great start of their road to African Netball Championship title
defense as they cruised past lowest ranked Namibia in a 47-72 win. As anticipated, team captain Peace Proscovia led by example alongside other dependables like Rachael Nanyonga, Ruth Meme, Halima Nakacwa, Sylvia Nanyonga, Lillian Ajio and Stella Nanfuka.

Today Thursday, the girls are back on court and will be up against Kenya who are the newest members of the International Netball Federation, aiming at to qualifying for their first ever Netball World Cup. Later in the day, She Cranes will face 22nd ranked Botswana while on Friday, the team will play Zambia before concluding the tournament against Zimbabwe on Saturday.

Uganda is the highest ranked side in the qualifying competition as they currently occupy 7th position on the INF World Rankings ladder. The team hopes to defend the title and qualify for our third World Cup with the most recent appearance having been in 2015 held in
Sydney where we finished 8th. The other appearance happened in 1979. Only two slots are left in the race to the 2019 Netball World Cup in Liverpool, England.
