Bobi Wine’s co-accused charged with treason, remanded until August 30

Thirty-three people including Members of Parliament Paul Mwiru, Gerald Karuhanga, Francis Zaake (who wasn’t present in court) and Arua Municipality MP-elect Kassiano Wadri have all been charged with treason and remand to Gulu prison until August 30, 2018.

According to court, the above Monday attacked the person of the president while he was in Arua for by-election campaigns injuring the rear screen of one of his lead cars.

Court also heard that some of the remanded suspects were tortured by the Special Forces Command (SFC) and can hardly walk without support or sit.

“My Lord, we have been advised to get limb x-rays for some of accused such as Gerald Karuhanga and Paul Mwiru whose knees were badly damaged. They have requested that the prison gets them private medical attention.

“The reason, my Lord is that they cannot trust the same government that did this to them to offer them professional treatment,” the Lead Counsel, Medard Lubega Ssegona, MP for Busiro North told Court.

Some of the injured like Atiku Shaban cannot walk. Two women Night Asara and Jane Abola are in critical condition. Asara was bleeding from her private parts in court.
