Rugby Cranes to reignite Gold Cup campaign against Tunisia

The African Gold Cup Rugby season is back on with the Uganda Rugby Cranes taking on Tunisia.

Following a losing start in the opening games 55-6 against Namibia and 38-22 against rivals Kenya, Uganda Rugby Cranes captain Asuman Mugerwa is hopeful that the campaign can be reignited starting with our first home fixture against Tunisia on Saturday, August 4 at the Kyadondo rugby grounds.

“It has been long since our fans last saw Uganda winning. We are home. This is our chance to prove that we are going to do our best to make sure we put a smile on our fans’ faces,” said Mugerwa.

Uganda sits rock bottom with no point on the table of the best in Africa excluding South Africa.

Namibia leads the way on 15 points and Kenya follows with 12. Tunisia, our opponents at the weekend, take the third position on four points while Zimbabwe and Morocco are both tied on three points.

After Saturday’s game, the boys will play two more fixtures at home, against Morocco and Zimbabwe on the weekends of August 11 and 18 respectively.
