In-laws chase broke groom at Kwanjula ceremony for bringing Shs6K and half-full crate of soda as bride price

Despite feminists preaching against parents who trade their girl child in exchange for property, some parents seem to be seeing them as jokers. Over the weekend in Nakatunda-Masuulita, Wakiso district, family of Mr Godffrey Luwaga chased ‘son in-law’ for only bringing a half crate of soda and other small items like onions, tomatoes among other as dowry on introduction of their daughter Catherine Nakasaga.

According to ‘Ssenga’, their daughter holds a ‘bright future’ and they could accept her to go in a low budget ceremony.

“We are tired of broke men marrying our daughters. Catherine is too beautiful to be taken by such a poor man. They (in-lwas) are not even ashamed of coming in a taxi for an introduction.  Our daughter can wait until a well off man comes for her,” the Ssenga vowe.

During the ceremony, just like the cultural norm of tipping the ssenga, she was surprised to find only Shs6000 in the envelope. She immediately announced the amount to the gathered crows hence causing chaos that saw the in-laws run for their life.
