Mbarara aircraft innovator tries to ‘test’ self-made chopper, crashes, rushed to hospital in critical condition

30-year-old Joseph Nkaheza, a resident of Mwizi in Mbarara district is receiving treatment at Ruti Clinic following a crash in his home-made chopper around Mbarara-Kabale road, his hometown.

Nkaheza, a primary seven dropout was reportedly testing the ‘chopper’ to see if it could fly.  However, according to witnesses,  the aircraft had taken flight a few feet off the ground when he failed to take full control hence crashing.

Nkaheza sustained injuries on his head and was rushed to hospital where he is in critical condition.

According to his close friends, it’s not the first time Nkaheza has crashed his plane. Last year, he suffered a similar accident and fractured his hand.
