Jinja East Polls: 8000 pre-ticked ballot papers in favour of NRM candidate netted, FDC supporters arrested over inciting violence

Over 8000 pre-ticked ballot papers have been recovered in so far five un-gazetted polling stations in Jinja East constituency. Pre-ticked ballot papers all in favour of NRM candidate Igeme Nabeta were found at Iganga Road Polling station and Main Street P/S due to voter vigilance.

According to reports, when the pre-ticked ballot papers were taken to authorities for verification, the serial numbers are found not compatible with the official EC ballot papers.

Due to the anxiety, Police and the army have beefed up security. Several FDC supporters have been arrested for inciting violence.

The Jinja East by-election has attracted eight candidates though the contest is largely a two horse race between FDC’s Paul Mwiru and NRM’s Igeme Nabeta.
