Lecturers at Uganda’s oldests and largest university Makerere will today vote on whether to go on strike or not. The lecturers under their umbrealla body Makerere University Academic Staff Association (Muasa) want the instituion’s management to harmonise and increase their salaries.
They argue that some lecturers are too qualified yet being underpaid.
The Muasa general assembly is expected to first analyse a report by the salary harmonisation committee that was given to them last week.
It should be remembered that students at Makerere are soon starting their exams and it will be uncertainty if the dons vote to go on strike.
