The Rubaga South MP Kato Lubwama has given to his constituency sacco the Shs29million that was sent to his account to enable him carry out consultations on age limit bill. The money was allegedly removed from the statutory emoluments fund and was disbursed to accounts of all legislators on Monday.
Lubwama explained that his constituents deserved this money because he knows well they don’t support the removal of age limit.
“This is military government and you cant give money back to a military government,” Lubwama said.
However, other six opposition MPs took back the money. They are Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi ( Butambala), Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda ( Kira Municipality), Medard Lubega Ssegona (Busiro East), William Nzonghu Musabe ( Busongora South), Moses Kasibante ( Rubaga North) and Angelina Osege ( Soroti Woman MP).
These argued that this is tax payers’ money that should not be wasted on the age limit bill. They also said they will ask the Inspector of General Government ( IGG) to investigate the real source of this money because to them, it is meant to bribe MPs to support the age limit bill.
