Africell Uganda and Uber have officially signed their ‘Uber With Africell’ partnership campaign agreement designed to enhance convenience with free rides for first time users.

The campaign which started on Twitter with the hashtag #UberWithAfricell on Thursday last week steadily grew to lead trends and by evening many Ugandan tweeps exhibited enthusiasm in the offer.

Users will get free 1st time rides up to UGX10,000 redeemable using promo Code TRIPLEDATA on downloading the Uber App on Google Play Store or the Apple Store.

While demonstrating how one can redeem their free ride, the Uber Country Manager Aaron Tindiseega said the two corporate bodies entered a partnership as a pay-it-forward sort of gesture to their existing riders as well as prospective riders.

”We are excited about this partnership. We want to give our new riders a feel of what Uber is like, before they start using the app every day to get from point A to B, and with this partnership, we will be able to achieve just that.” Tindiseega said.

Meanwhile the Africell Commercial Director, Milad Khairallah, said the Uber with Africell campaign is meant to demonstrate Africell’s dominance in the data market which has over time been tested and appreciated by Ugandans.

”For us, this is to share of our big heart as Africell. We are conveying the same generosity with which we triple our subscribers’ daily data to show both our customers and other people yet to switch to Africell that we have a heart for them,” Milad said.

According to the two companies, #UberWithAfricell will expand into even bigger and more exciting phases with promos in Africell stores and also in-transit on Uber rides.

There will be ‘Wifi on Uber’ where free Wifi hotspots will be availed to customers courtesy of Africell and also ‘Uber Dost’ where anyone in an Africell shop can order for Uber rides on immovable devices in Africell stores.
