Egypt legendary goalkeeper Essam El-Hadary will miss the highly anticipated 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers clash against Uganda due to injury. The veteran shot stopper sustained the injury at Namboole on Thursday during the 1-0 loss to Uganda Cranes after a collision with defender Ahmed Hegazi.
“We have called up Mohamed Awad and will start training sessions with the team starting from Friday,” national team supervisor Ehab Leheta said.
The 44-year-old completed the game and made a couple of brilliant saves but appeared to be in pain through out the contest.
Awad will be the third keeper in Egypt’s squad, after Ahmed El-Shennawi and Sherif Ekrami.
