Victory will be the only thing on the mind as Uganda and Kenya face off in the second edition of the Victoria Cup from Wednesday July 5. The golf event that is sponsored by Johnnie Walker will be played at the Entebbe Club and will run until Saturday July 8.
The tourney teed off on June 25, 2017 with 21 players engaged in three grueling competitive qualifiers held at the Entebbe Club. Eleven players (one reserve) were selected at that stage for the final contest with the visiting team from Kenya. The Ugandan team is comprised of captain Becca Mwanja, Davis “Dubuisson” Kato, Ismail Muhammod, Herman Deco Mutebi and Dennis Asaba. Martin Ochaya is the reserve player.
The Ugandans will be aiming to settle the score with their opponents after the Kenyans won the inaugural edition hosted at Muthaiga Golf Club in Nairobi.
“Johnnie Walker is proud to be a part of the Victoria Cup. We are confident that it will be as competitive as the first edition and as UBL we guarantee all the golfers a memorable experience on and off the course. We wish both teams good luck, and may the best team win,” Annette Nakiyaga, UBL’s Head of Whisky Portfolio said.
The Victoria Cup match play format will be Four Ball Better Ball. The subsidiary fees are Shs200, 000 per pair.
