You remember the gruesome photos of ailing Kamwenge Mayor Geoffrey Byamukama in a hospital bed? He has spoken out on the alleged torture incident that was carried out by the Police.
In an exclusive interview with NBS TV, Byamukama disclosed that he was arrested at the Parliamentary Chambers and forced into a black tinted police Van.
“Immediately the police officers took my phones, national ID, money Shs650, 000 and the wallet. While in the police van, they covered my head with a black ‘kaveera’ and started hitting my ankles and knee joints with batoons. Others were also slapping my head. This all happened before reaching Nalufenya”, he revealed.
According to Byamukama, officers were inflicting the pain to force him confess in distress that he was involved in the murder of fallen AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi. A day before being taken to Nalufenya, Byamukama narrated that he was first detained at unknown building in Kampala where they continued to torture him.
Byamukama who is still at Nalufenya receiving treatment. Last week on Friday four officers who were suspected to have been involved in his torture were charged and remanded to Luzira prison.
