Despite the high hurdles iron lady and Mukono Municipality Member of Parliament Hon. Betty Nambooze is shouldering on. Hardly a day after a foiled rally in Masaka, she has stated that target is to take over leadership of Democratic Party.
“We are starting our campaign to take over the leadership of DP. Once you are recognized by a group of people as their leader, you are their leader even if Mao stands on top of Workers House and shouts ‘Nambooze is no longer the DP leader in Buganda’ I will be,” she vowed.
Yesterday Police forcefully dispersed Nambooze from holding a meeting and rally in greater Masaka region. Police fired fire teargas and live bullets to disperse the crowd.
Nambooze fainted on reaching the Police station after sustaining a wound on her head while other fellow MPs Medard Lubega Ssegona and Brenda Nabukenya were also arrested.
Nambooze accuses DP president Norbert Mao and deputy Fred Mukasa Mbidde for letting down the party. She claims they serve the interests of the ruling party NRM.
