When she walked down the aisle three years ago, Dora Mwima was praying for a peaceful function. In fact, her wedding to Barrack Nader had only 100 guests to minimise the drama. Mwima’s story is one of a happy ending now that she’s babysitting two bouncing babies. We can’t help but crush on her today.
Yes, Dorah Mwima is a Nalongo! Nader Barrak is a Salongo, albeit a Lebanese one. The former Miss Uganda gave birth to twins- a boy and a girl, on Monday night.
It is not surprising that God has given Mwima a “double blessing”. She is a beauty with a purpose. She has a big heart. Through her not-for-profit Foundation, Mwima organises the famous Celebrity for Charity soccer event. The proceeds of the event focus on prenatal and postnatal healthcare for underprivileged mothers, newborns and toddlers.
The mother of twins, Giovanna and Serafin, was crowned Miss Uganda in 2008 when she was just 18 years old, making her the youngest to ever wear the crown.
Mwima who was born in 1990 and hails from Tororo District went ahead to represent Uganda in the Miss World beauty pageant.
The beauty queen, third born of four siblings born to a Muganda mother and Munyakole father, studied under the home-schooling system before she attained her A-level qualifications from Lusaka Zambia. She speaks Swahili, French, English, and Greek.
So, in all ways, Mwima has pulled herself up by the bootstraps.
We celebrate you Dorah Mwima.
