Lwengo District Woman MP, Hon Cissy Namujju is enjoying Women’s Day in style after surviving major eviction from the August house.
This comes after Court of Appeal overturned on a technicality High Court’s decision and re-instated Namujju yesterday.
Namujju was last year dragged to High Court in Masaka by a one Martin Kizito Ssemwanga challenging that she did not have the required academic qualifications to become MP. High Court then threw Namujju out of the 10th parliament.
However, after reviewing the appeal, a panel of three justices led by Deputy Chief Justice Steven Kavuma unanimously ruled that Namjju’s election was legit on grounds that the accuser, Ssemwanga, had 460 names and signatures of fellow voters in the constituency instead of the required 500.
The Court of Appeal also went ahead to note that after reweiwing evindence from Masaka High Court, the PLE, UCU and UACE certificates brought before them were indeed belonging to Namujju as they bore the same photograph that’s on her Natonal ID.
Namujju was then re-instated as Lwengo Woman MP and Ssemwanga the accuser ordered to pay both lower and Court of Appeal.
