Rema’s silky voice seems to only get “sweeter” and we simply couldn’t resist crushing on her this week. She is one of the best singers in this part of the world who happens to not only have a voice that mellows like an evening purple dome, but also has those cute dimples.
Rema takes her work so seriously. She revealed to us the lengths she has been taking to manage her weight and keep her fans happy. She has been sweating out in aerobics classes and cutting her diet to vegetarian dishes just to look good for you. As she drops the “Yo sweet” video tomorrow, we can’t help but wait to treat our eyes.
Rema was born in 1991 in Ntinda and is the last born in her family who studied Administrative and Managerial Science at Kyambogo University although later switched to Fashion and Design as the former course was not fitting well into her music schedule.
Although Rema started singing as early as she could talk, her music journey began in primary school when she started singing at karaoke’s and as a backup vocalist in Ekimbewo hit maker Halima Namakula’s songs.
During one of Halima’s studio practices, Rema’s voice dazzled Bebe Cool who immediately invited her to join Gagamel Crew. Thus in her P7 vacation, Rema’s vocals featured in “Sambagala,” a classic duet by Bebe and Halima. Rema then became a backup vocalist in Bebe’s songs.
Almost a decade later, Rema returned as the featured artiste in the mega hit Cease & Seckle by her mentor Bebe Cool.
After dropping her first single, “Oli Wange” Rema’s music journey has only moved upward on the ladder of Ugandan Music Industry.
We celebrate you Rema.
