Yesterday relatives of deceased Angella Nansubuga together with Mityana residents stormed Mityana Hospital in protest of a nurse who allegedly neglected Nansubuga after giving birth to a bouncing baby thus leading to her sudden death.
According to Bukedde TV, Nansubuga gave birth on Sunday night and bled heavily. A blood transfusion was recommended to save her. However, the undisclosed nurse on duty told his husband Steven Kakumba to pay Shs5000 before she treats her wife.
“I requested the nurse to treat my wife. I promised that I would pay in the morning”, the broken widower explained.
Relatives and Mityana residents yesterday wanted to mob the nurse accusing her of neglecting her duties but no hospital staff member was found at the premises. District leaders led by Mityana Mayor Fred Naava, Deputy RDC Yahiya Kakooza, LC 5 Chairman Joseph Luzige and Mityana Police OC CID Allan Tushima came to the hospital to access the condition.
They held a brief meeting with a few hospital staffs to get to the bottom line of the entire scenario. Chairperson Luzige asked the distressed crowd that they allow police carry out their investigations and vowed justice will be attained.
All government hospitals are expected to offer free services to citizens.
