Singer Jackie Chandiru is back in rehabilitation over drug addiction. According to our sources, the Gold Digger singer is admitted at Bunamwaya Rehabilitation Centre in sorry condition.
Last year around this time, singer Jackie Chandiru was reported to have been battling for her life after she had allegedly passed out at her home in Bukasa. She was admitted at Mulago Hospital where laboratory tests confirmed drug abuse that she was administering through intra-venous (injection) route. Samples of the drugs and syringes were discovered at her home and several needle marks along her arms and hands confirmed the findings of the medics. She was then admitted to Bunamwaya rehab, which she successfully completed was discharged. By August, she was back on her feet.
Life after Bunamwaya rehab
After she was discharged, Jackie Chandiru had to struggle to regain her lost glory as a singer. She sought help from Radio and Weasel who according to our sources offered her free accommodation at their Neverland ranch in Makindye. She was also given free access to the music studio to revive her career. The singing duo gave her the golden opportunity to “save herself from her”. Then Radio and Weasel’s manager Chagga started acting as her stand-in manager and booking shows for her. As time went on, life was sailing back to normal. Jackie seemed determined to get her life together. So they thought.
Things fall apart
All of a sudden, the singer’s behaviour begun to change. She became more dramatic and started acting crazy and it was obvious that she had slipped back to her former ways. The source informed us that after several attempts to counsel her failed, singer Radio decided to throw her out. She then sought refuge at Chagga’s place on condition that she would reform and mean business. However, she brought more mischief. She disappeared with cash for one of the shows Chagga had booked for her and went into hiding. After a long spell without seeing her, her friends tipped her family members who turned the fire back to Radio, Weasel and Chagga who they knew had been helping their daughter get back to life.
“The arrest”
Chagga revealed the shocking news to Chandiru’s family. They then devised a strategic plan to “arrest” and take her backto rehab. It was a plot of cheese and a mouse trap. Chagga called her and duped her that he had money for her from some of her bookings and he wanted her to pick it up. She requested to send someone pick the money. Chagga declined, insisting that he wanted her in person. After a long conversation, Chandiru agreed as police and family were notified of the meeting. When they met at the place they had agreed on, police swung into action and arrested her. The source claims she was in very bad shape at the time of her “arrest.”
History of heartbreaks and addiction
Jackie Chandiru has had a troubled love life. It is rumoured she failed to recover from the fate of passion. She had been involved with celebrated lawyer Caleb Alaka, a married man. The fights in the relationship gave birth to “Gold digger” a song in which she justified her feelings for the married man.
However according to sources she moved on, then later got married to Dutch husband, Nol Van Vliet. This whole relationship started as a perfect fairytale love story until it dawned on Chandiru that the man she thought was Mr. Right was actually already married to another woman, a South Sudanese model named, Adut Mawien. She fell into depression and later resorted to drugs for solace.
It is rumoured that she started living with other two girls who introduced her to the drugs and maintained steady supply. It is said that several family members approached the singer and advised her to cut ties with the two girls saying that they were too young and therefore bad company for a married woman of over 30 years.
The “Wotuse” hitmaker defended them claiming that the girls were helping with music business. It was not long before neighbours alerted friends including music promoter, Balaam Barugahara that the singer had fallen unconscious in her living room with the front door locked.
This is when Balaam brought a group of bouncers to get the singer out of trouble. They had to force their way into the house after breaking the front door lock.
Chandiru was later taken to a mental clinic where the doctors prescribed a rehabilitation programme for her. She is now admitted at the same Bunamwaya rehabilitation facility. Our prayer is that she beats her addiction once and for all this time round. Fingers crossed for her.
