Uganda Cranes face the last test in preparation for AFCON with three days left to kick off. Cranes face 2015 AFCON champions Ivory Coast in a game that will boost their confidence.
With similar heavyweights Ghana, Mali and Egypt as Cranes’ Group D opponents at AFCON, today’s game will be more than a friendly. Goalkeeper Denis Onyango is expected to feature in this game after being on the sidelines for a month due to a thigh injury. On record Cranes has faced Ivory Coast twice attaining one draw and losing the other.
Cranes has played two major competitive friendly games, losing the first one 2-0 against Tunisia. But they bounced back from the defeat by winning 3-1 against European side Slovakia. After today’s game, Cranes will jet off to Gabon, Port Gentil.
Group D games will start on Tuesday January 17 with Uganda v Ghana at 7pm followed by Egypt v Mali at 10pm both games will be held at Port Gentil Stadium.
