PHOTOS: The state of MP Abiriga’s yellow home shocks Ugandans

It is a public secret that being a legislator in Uganda is probably the most paying office to hold. With a plethora of freebies (including smartphone…read iPad), hefty allowances, and astronomical salary, one would expect any MP to live large. However, Arua Municipality MP seems not to be moved by the wealth that comes with being a Ugandan MP.

For starters, he prefers to drive a humble Volkswagen Beatle while his colleagues are fuelling the latest Mercedes Benz, Range Rover and other high performance luxury cars.

The state of his house in Anyafio village surfaced on the internet after an alleged arson attack. The eye sore rusty iron sheets and generally, dilapidated house though with fresh yellow coat, left many surprised.

According to reports, Abiriga was given the house since he was appointed RDC and since his five children and studying in nearby school, the family opted to stay at the home.
