Only people in Kampala are opposing but in our local villages they are saying ‘Gikwateko’— Hon Magyezi

While speaking to press during the 55th independence celebrations in Bushenyi, Igara West Member of Parliament Hon Raphael Magyezi assured that according to the support he has been shown especially in villages, his tabled private member bill of lifting the presidential age limit will stand.

“When the president stands in Bushenyi, the same area where the man proposing to touch it (Article 102) comes from. The wise person should know what he implies,” stated Magyezi.

“You may hear some noise in Kampala and in some municipalities, but on the ground, with the local people from the villages, they are simply saying Raphael go ahead; ‘gikwateko’. It is a matter of time; this thing shall be passed.”

This comes following Speaker Rebecca Kadaga’s order to MPs to go back to their respective constituencies and hold consultation meetings on the matter.
