Age limit motion tabled in absence of opposition MPs

A scuffle between opposition MPs and security as they were being thrown out of Parliament.

Igara West Member of Parliament Raphael Magezi has finally tabled his motion seeking leave of Parliament to draft a constitutional amendment bill that seeks to remove the 75-year presidential candidate age limit from the Constitution.

Magezi tabled the motion in absence of most opposition MPs who left the house in protest, following Speaker Rebecca Kadaga suspending 25 MPs over yesterday’s incident which was characterised by rowdiness, forcing her to adjourn the proceedings.

Leader of the Opposition Winnie Kiiza protested the manner in which her colleagues had been manhandled out of the house.

Magyezi’s motion was seconded by MPs Moses Balyeku, Jackson Karugaba Kafuuzi, and Doreen Amule.
