MPs want to associate with the winning party to remain in power — Security Minister Gen. Henry Tumukunde

Security Minister Gen. Henry Tumukunde has explained that the heavy deployment of Police and other security agencies is a response to security threats. While appearing on NBS TV this morning, he also shed light on some of the issues sorrounding the age limit debate.

“There’s so much being talked about the deployment outside Parliament. The decision of a commander depends on the threats,” Hon. Tumukunde stated.

When asked about his stand on the ongoing age limit debate, Tumukunde revealed that he rallies behind his party NRM and if he was by any chance against it, he would have pronounced himself like he did in 2005.

“If I was dissenting, I would have pronounced myself on this matter already. I dissented in 2005. The fundamental factors will be determined in 2021,” he revealed.

The minister continued to defend members supporting the amendment saying;  “MPs want to associate with the winning party to remain in power. The term limits debate was more important and critical than the debate on age limit”.
