You can’t intimidate Simeo, try somebody else I have been in more serious situations than this one- NRM’s Simeo Nsubuga reacts to assault over supporting lifting of Presidential age limits

Kasanda South County Member of Parliament Simeo Nsubuga was attacked by former WBS TV journalist William Ntenge Kyuma Kyayesu at Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi 24th coronation anniversary in Buwekula County in Mubende district yesterday.

According to sources, Ntenge attacked Simeo accusing him of being at the forefront of a plan to lift the upper presidential contestant age limit, to allow President Museveni to continue his rule after 2021.

Following the attack, Simeo, a former Police spokesperson says this was a calculated move by opposition members of Parliament to intimidate him over supporting the amendment of article 102 of the Constitution to lift a presidential candidate’s age limit from 75 years. Simeo said the attack will not make him change his position on the matter.

“My message to Ntenge and his sponsors is that your manoeuvres will meet a dead end. You can’t intimidate Simeo, try somebody else. I have been in more serious situations than this one. Somalia and South Sudan were more risky and life threatening than this one, but I survived,” said the former cop who was part of peace keeping missions in the war torn countries.

“This is a good signal to know what members of the opposition are planning to do to us as NRM Members who are supporting the constitutional amendments. You have started the music in Mubende but we are getting back to you in the same currency. Nobody will succumb to your intimidation acts,” he added.

Simeo and Arua Municipality MP Ibrahim Abiriga are said to be the major proponents of lifting the Presidential age limit and they have on various occasions expressed that they are receiving being intimidated by the public.
