Hon. Kahinda Otafiire finally speaks out about the “baptism” incident at Namboole and presidential age limit

Last week, angry local leaders “baptised” Hon. Kahinda Otafiire as they blocked him from addressing them. They mercilessly poured water on him bringing the gathering to a close. According to reports, the local leaders had expected to meet the President (not Otafiire) and also accused the minister of being an agent of presidential age limit removal.

It is on this background that yesterday night, Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs Hon Kahinda Otafire was amongst the hosted panelists on NBS TV’s weekly Frontline show. While on the show, Otafire was asked to comment on removal of presidential age limit.

“He (Museveni) has not yet told me anything, so I can’t say anything.” said the minister

“Whether I have a view or not, I’m a minister who is in charge of this process.” he added

According to Otafire, he was not amongst the people who indicated that such crucial articles in the constitution must be amended.

The minister further citied that last week’s Namboole incident where he angry local leaders poured water on him didn’t by any chance have a link with the age limit debate.

“The evidence would have been in allowing me in exposing me at Namboole. Now that they didn’t allow me to expose myself, why are you according me of advocating for age limit? Besigye says I’m an agent of bad news (age limit) but I want him to cite an incidence where I advocated for age limit”, he stated.
