Rugby Cranes to run with communicators

The Uganda Rugby Cranes are set to prepare for their busy international fixtures in a unique way – by running with Uganda’s leading PR and communication professionals. The 10th edition of the Public Relations Association of Uganda monthly run will see the rugby national team feature as special guests this Friday, 26 May, starting at National Council of Sports offices at Lugogo.

“The PRAU Run has an aim of instilling a strong sense of physical fitness while also interacting with Uganda’s top professionals. Running with the Rugby Cranes will be a great opportunity for us to learn the sport as well and see how we can make a contribution towards its development,” said Cynthia Mpanga, the PRAU president.

With the Uganda Rugby Cranes set to face off with Namibia, Kenya, Zimbabwe and Senegal in a battle for the African Cup as well as a ticket to the 2019 World Cup in Japan, they should consider this PRAU Run as a good luck charm.

Former World and Olympic champion Stephen Kiprotich, who took part in the January edition of the PRAU Run went ahead to help Team Uganda to scoop a bronze medal at the recent IAAF World Cross Country Championships at Kololo in March and then later took silver at the Haspa Hamburg International Marathon in April.

“We are humbled to take some time off our busy preparations to run with the PRAU members. I believe this will enable the boys to interact with their fans even as they prepare for some tough and exciting games ahead,” said Ramsey Olinga, the Uganda Rugby Union CEO.

This will be the third run of the year and the PRAU members will again don their running kits sponsored by Coca-Cola as they engage in physical activities to maintain a healthy work-life balance.

The PRAU monthly run will start off at Lugogo Indoor Stadium at 5.30pm.
