Four MUK arrested over Stella Nyanzi protest remanded back to Luzira, to miss exams

Remember the Makerere University students who were arrested on May 10, the day Dr. Stella Nyanzi was granted bail? The guys who went to the court hearing to protest that they her missed her lectures and wanted her released? Well, they have been further remanded to Luzira as exams fast approaches.

Buganda Road Magistrates’ Court has adjourned the hearing and bail application of the four arrested Makerere university undergraduate students until Wednesday May 24 2017. The magistrate remanded Edmond Kahigi, Roy Rugumayo, Hannington Mugarura and Ariho Steven remanded to Luzira maximum security Prison.

With their next hearing and bail application scheduled on Wednesday this week, chances are that they will miss the end of semester exams due next month if their bail application is denied.

They were first detained at Kampala Central Police Station before being transferred to Luzira.
