Uganda Golf Club has the last laugh after edging Entebbe Club

The Entebbe Club had gone into the return leg of their Johnnie Walker Blue Label-sponsored challenge against the Uganda Golf Club counterparts boasting a one-point lead from the first leg, but they would get the bitter end of the stick when the action climaxed at Kitante last Saturday.

UGC’s 27.5 points on the day turned out to be a stretch too far for their Entebbe counterparts to match, with the Entebbe Club only managing 14.5 points in the second leg of the inter-club contest that had pitted Uganda’s two leading golf clubs against each other  at Kitante Golf Course.



The winning side’s outstanding players included the pair of Amos Nzei/Kato Sebaale that beat the Jim Muhwezi/Robert Sempebwa pairing 6/5.

Handicap 18 golfer Innocent Kihika lost to Patrick Oyee (H/C 13) as the Jadu Patel/Anthony Agaba pair had a smooth win over  DavidSsekitoleko and Jaime Byaruhanga 7/5.

Mutegyeki Chris/Jim Muhwezi pair, on the other hand beat Nambale David and Musiime Perry 4/3.

In the professionals’ play-offs, Uganda Golf Club Professionals won 4-1 over their Entebbe counterparts.Uganda Golf Professionals Association president Deo Akope led by example as he defeated Entebbe’s Robert ‘Escobar’ Oluba 2/1.

Herman Mutawe overcame Peter Sendaula 1-up as George Kabuye lost to Entebbe’s Silver Opio 4/3.

After a day of magnificent golf, the action shifted to the 19th hole, where the Johnnie Walker flowed through out and music rent the air, with acapella moments from members of both clubs capping what was a fun-filled Saturday.
