MP Mubarak Munyagwa sent to Luzira over Shs100m debt

Kawempe South MP Mubarak Munyagwa, commonly known as Mugati Gwa Butter is to spend six months behind bars in Luzira Prison, after failure to pay Shs100m that he owes one John Baptist Maali.

Munyagwa was arrested and taken to court by Alpha Court Bailiffs and was sent to Luzira by Florence Nassuna, the registrar in court’s execution division.

As he boarded the dreaded Maroon prison bus to Luzira, Munyagwa could afford a smile and he flashed his FDC party’s V-sign.

Munyagwa’s troubles stem from failure to hand over vacant possession to Maali, a piece of land in Kawempe that he sold to him 2015.

Munyagwa neither vacated the land nor transferred the title into Maali’s names.
